NVRECC Choking Save in Lunenburg

On November 4th, 2019, NVRECC received a 9-1-1 call for an adult male, who had choked on some food, was not breathing, and became unresponsive. NVRECC dispatched Lunenburg EMTs and Medstar. Our dispatcher gave the caller life savings instructions over the telephone to clear the obstruction which became dislodged, the patient started breathing again, and regained consciousness. First responders arrived shortly after to continue patient treatment. Through the combined team effort of NVRECC, Lunenburg EMTs, Medstar, and Lunenburg Police the patient was resuscitated and survived.
